Adding a car
In your Garage, decode a VIN and confirm the vehicle before saving. If the decoder can’t identify it, choose Enter vehicle details manually and supply its year, make and model. Any make can be added. The free plan saves one car; a trial, subscription or complimentary access lets you add more.
Scanning a VIN
On a phone, tap Scan your VIN. Capture it from the driver's door frame, the bottom of the windshield, or your registration. You can also upload a photo. On a computer, use Upload a photo of your VIN or type the 17 characters. Check the result before saving.
Uploading records
With paid or complimentary access, tap Upload records in your Garage. No sorting needed: add up to 50 mixed receipts, photos, PDFs, repair orders or a CARFAX. We match each document to your cars. Choose a car for anything unmatched, review the service lines and duplicates, then Save all.
Requesting service records
Open a car and find Get my service records. Draft my emails lets you choose a dealer or enter any shop manually—even if the dealer list is empty. Review the drafts and send them from your inbox. Track replies and upload records when they arrive. This requires paid or complimentary access.
Annual service reminders
Every car has an annual service date: its most recent logged service plus 12 months, regardless of mileage. Due soon starts 30 days before; Due runs from that date through 30 days after, then Overdue. With no records, add your last service date. Log a completed service to reset the date. Reminders are in-app only; the factory schedule, where available, stays separate.
Add to home screen
On iPhone or iPad, open ServiceTruth in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, use your browser’s Install app or Add to Home screen option. On desktop, use the install icon in a supported browser’s address bar.
